Senator Chapman’s Jekyll legislation (Senate Bills 426, 427 and 428) has been assigned to the Economic Development Committee.

The committee’s chairman, Senator Chip Pearson, will play the key role in determining if the Jekyll bills are heard by the committee’s members. He has not yet made his position clear on Senator Chapman’s bills.

Committee member Senator Robert Brown is one of the co-sponsors of  SBs 426-428 and deserves our thanks for his support of legislation that is so important for Jekyll’s future.

The contact information for the EDC’s members is listed below. We are encouraging Jekyll’s friends to telephone the committee’s members and ask them to support the Jekyll bills. If you are a constituent of one of the senators, be sure to make that clear when you call.

If the committee member you call is unavailable, please ask for his/her administrative assistant by name and leave your message with that person. Keep your message brief and to the point. Our core position is that we favor responsible revitalization of Jekyll Island State Park (especially hotel reconstruction), but are strongly opposed to new building on the park’s remaining open oceanfront.
