GOOD NEWS: Westin Drops Motorized Beach Services Delivery!

Good news! The Westin hotel has stated that it will not be resuming on-the-beach, motorized vehicular delivery of beach services to its customers. Instead, those services will be transported by hand from the hotel to the beach. The hotel did not indicate why this decision was made, but, hopefully, it was influenced by the overwhelming negative response from participants in IPJI’s Beach Driving Survey and the letters of concern shared with the hotel by a number of civic and environmental organizations.

When this news was posted on IPJI’s Facebook pages (Protect Jekyll Island and Save Jekyll Island)they lit up with a flurry of likes, comments and an unprecedented number of shares. Feel free to post your comment about this good news on those pages or give the Westin a pat on the back for rethinking its decision and doing the right thing by Jekyll’s beach and visitors.
